Daily Rituals at Shri Shri Doul Govinda Mandir

Every morning the doors of the Lord's temple are opened by about 7:30 O’clock and Archana (worshipping rituals) are performed by the priests after giving bath to the Lord.

Devotees start congregating in the Mandir premise by about 8:00 O’clock. They stand in queue with Chakis (earthen lamps) and Dhup sticks waiting for their turn to enter into Benti Prajalan Griha.

After offering ‘Diya’, devotees queue up for Darshana of Mahaprabhu Doul Govinda. Receiving blessings, Nirmali and Pada-Jala, pilgrims then sit in rows along with other devotees in the open hall.

At noon, the priest offers Bhoga (rice boiled in milk with sugar, kismis etc.). A beating Daba (big conical drum) is sounded accompanied by bell and conch. During this sacred offering, the main door remains closed for a few minutes.

After the rituals, volunteers distribute Prasada followed by Bhoga among the devotees. Many devotees contribute to offer Bhoga and Sarai on their behalf and receive Bhoga to take home from the counter.

Even after devotees disperse, the Mandir remains open till sunset for those arriving from distant places. Thereafter, the temple closes for the day.
